WINTER 2012

- An Evening with Holocaust Survivor Max Eisen: On Monday, February 13th, Mr. Max Eisen, a speaker from the Holocaust Education Center . shared his story with a crowd at the Humanities Theatre. Mr. Eisen spoke about his childhood, his experience as a prisoner at Aushwitz-Birkenau, and how he has overcome his past. survivor memoirs were distributed thanks to the Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program.
- One Seed. Many Roots. Black History Month Celebrations at uWaterloo and WLU: Did you know!? 2012 marked the 16th year of Black History Month celebrations in Canada - The House of Commons passed a motion in December 1995 to officially recognize February as Black History Month in Canada. To mark the 16th year, uWaterloo and WLU worked together to host three days of programming starting Tuesday February 7th: Rock Your Roots:, a historical fashion show, Discover Your Roots:, a day of information sharing, and Showcase Your Roots:, a talent showcase.
- Volunteer Information Session: Tuesday January 17th, 5:30pm - 6:30pm, SLC 2105B
- Diversity Gallery: uWaterloo students. staff, and faculty submitted photographs answering the question, "What does diversity mean to me?" The photographs were put on display in the SLC Multi-Purpose Room Tuesday January 17th and Wednesday January 18th. FALL 2011

- Kick Down Diversity Barriers For School & Career Success with Karate World Champion Clint Cora: On October 26th, motivational speaker, author, businessman, and karate world champion Clint Cora visited uWaterloo to deliver two workshops that presented students with tips for success in studies and employment.
- Workshop: Sexuality and Pleasure 101: Carlyle Jansen, founder of Good For Her and expert on modern day sexuality for everyone has facilitated 1,000+ workshops on sex and relationships. Her matter-of-fact approach and comfort with sex quickly dispels nervousness and puts participants at ease. She has been featured on The Discovery Channel, Women’s Television Network, The Toronto Star, McLeans Magazin, The Globe and Mail, and TEDxToronto. On November 1st, Carlyle led an entertaining and informative workshop for approximately 70 uWaterloo students.
